Using the "Input settings" dialog you can define different import options. These options will be used globally for the import of all loaded components.
This option corresponds to the option "Import model" available from ICEM-CFD version 15.0 under "File | Import model". It incorporates automatic correction tools and is more time consuming.
At the first time you use CFturbo2ICEM a geometry scale problem could occur using this option.
Scale problem by importing *.stp geometry file
If this problem occurs, follow the next steps:
1.Close ICEM-CFD and delete the *.aienv_options file. To find the location of this file, please see "Installation" notes
2.Start ICEM-CFD and import manually any *.stp geometry file using the Import Model interface. Select "Millimeters" for the import units. Click onto "Apply" or "OK" to import the geometry
3.In order to generate a new *.aienv_options file, go to Settings | General and make click onto "Apply" or "OK".
4.Restart ICEM-CFD and use CFturbo2ICEM normally. The geometry should be now imported correctly.
The CFturbo2ICEM reader is based on ICEM-CFD Step Translator (available from ICEM-CFD version 15.0 under "File | Import geometry | Legacy | STEP/IGES") with additional family names recognition.
Both versions - standard and version 5.1 - import geometry more quickly than the Workbench reader.
By default the STEP Reader is set to CFturbo2ICEM reader.
Due to geometric quality of the input problems during the loading process might arise. In this case it is recommended to double check the results with the alternative reader.
CFturbo2ICEM readers can recognize some of these problems and display warnings in the info window.
CFturbo2ICEM reader is only available if ICEM-CFD Legacy Tools are installed. These tools are not installed by default up to version 17.2 of ICEM-CFD.
To use the CFturbo2ICEM reader these tools have to be downloaded from customer portal and installed.
By default, CFturbo geometries are exported in millimeters. By default, geometries are imported in millimeters too.
If you want to import the geometry using different units, please select the desired units in the "Input settings" dialog.
Two methods to set family names are available when the *.stp file is loaded.
Option "Names with prefix"
Is the option "Names with prefix" disabled (default), the family names are composed of two parts separated by a dot "." :
<component name>.<location> where <location> is for example "INLET".
The available family names in CFX are identical (See Finishing the mesh process).
If the option is enabled, the family names are composed of three parts separated by a slash character "/":
<project name> / <component name> / <location>
This naming convention allows the families to be shown ordered by name in Icem.
