Finishing the mesh process

After the mesh is generated and the validity of the generated mesh is checked, the finishing can be done and the resulting files can be exported.

The finishing process consist of grouping mesh elements into new families which will be used later in solver (i.e. CFX-Pre of Ansys). This process is really important in order to maintain predefined names and use templates by the preprocessing tool if desired.

The final family names are composed by two terms: <component name>.<family name> independent of if option "Use prefix names" was selected in the "Input settings" dialog or not . The component name is defined by the user in CFturbo (see CFturbo documentation for more details).

Once the elements are grouped into new families, shell elements are reoriented consistent with the volume mesh, which is saved and finally exported.

 

To finish and export the mesh click on the button "Export". This button is enabled only if a valid mesh was previously generated. The diagram shows the internal processes of CFturbo2ICEM:

The info window will display the progress.

Once the process is finished, only the action buttons "Import" and "Export" remains enabled.

The loaded component can be re-meshed only if the geometry is reloaded, because at the end of the finish and export process, the original families necessary for the meshing process don't exist anymore. Therefore the initial geometry has to be reloaded.
