Changing the working directory

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The working directory can be selected in a default manner using the proper option available in the ICEM-CFD GUI (File > Change Working Dir..). Alternatively you can use the button in the CFturbo2ICEM panel. Both methods save the information internally, so that modifications using one of them will be considered using the other one as well.

The selection of a proper working directory enables searching for the *.tinXML files. The working directory can be the project directory or another one.

For example, if you want to mesh one or more components of a single project, all these components have different names and its *.tinXML and *.stp files should be saved into the same directory. This directory should be selected as as working directory.

Otherwise, if you want to mesh the same component or components with several geometrical modifications (i.e. a typical impeller optimization project), each particular component will have typically the same name in CFturbo. In this case, the *.tinXML file and its corresponding *.stp file must be saved into different directories to avoid files overwriting.

The root directory of all these directories should be selected as working directory.
